Independence Day 2013 -- July 4, 2013

The airwaves and blogosphere will be filled with words about what America means, and how it means to be free.  I won't add to them here, except to post one of the most remarkable renditions of the Star Spangled Banner ever recorded.  The year is 1997, the musical score is original, and the second verse lyrics are powerful.  But what's most remarkable is her voice.  Only a voice as strong as Sandi's could carry the score.  If you haven't heard it before, sit back, block out other competing inputs, close your eyes and open your ears, and enjoy.

And if you decide to listen a second time, this time watch how hard the pianist in the background is working.
